On your first driving lesson with Alpha School of Motoring, after a warm welcome, I will need to check your provisional licence and make sure that you can read a number plate from 20 metres away.
If you have driven before we will discuss what you have and have not done and then tailor your driving lessons in Halifax to suit your needs.
If you haven't driven before we will spend some time discussing the controls/instruments and practice using them while parked. Then we need to be able to adjust and check various things before we drive – handbrake, doors, seat, mirrors and seat belt, this is known as the cockpit drill. When you feel OK with that the next thing is to be able to move off and stop.
Each subject follows a logical pattern, for instance when you can move off and stop then we can go on to turning left at a quiet junction. When you are getting the hang of that we do turning right and so on building knowledge on existing knowledge.
After each driving lesson in Halifax we will discuss what has been covered, what was good and what needs more work. I also encourage my pupils to give me feedback so we can discuss anything that is bothering them, because no two people are the same.
I will never drag the driving lessons on week after week if you are ready for the practical test but nor will I let you take the test (at least not in my car) if I do not think you are ready. I pride myself on being honest.
I am a registered PASS PLUS Instructor and I also do refresher courses for people who may have not driven for some time and have lost their confidence.
I can help with your theory test and I am able to supply DSA books/DVDs at reduced prices.
